The stopover in Vienna is necessary because Vienna is a major hub to Eastern Europe - and is a good place to visit on its own premises. The itinerary can be enhanced with visits to Prague, Czech Republic, Bratislava, Slovakia, Riga, Latvia and Warzaw/Krakow, Poland. The even more adventurous may include Kiev, Ukraine.
